Curriculum Planning
Curriculum planning is an important part of preparing for the school year. To help me in curriculum planning, I have looked towards Jerome Bruner’s Spiral Curriculum. He believed that students should begin by learning through enquiry and achieve the basics. Students should then be provided with the opportunity to return to the same learning each year, however the difficulty should increase. For example, in the curriculum planning outlines in the links below, students in first year will have the chance to build 3D animal sculptures in papier-maché and by the time they have reached fifth year, students have to experiment and select among a variety of materials to build a 3D sculpture animal, in detail. Bruner believed that this type of learning leads to development, and eventually mastery.
